Approximately twelve kilometers southwest of the center of Tyniec, the Benedictine Abbey of SS Peter and Paul stands in dramatic contrast atop a cliff overlooking the Vistula River. Visitors may pass through a set of imposing gates, reminiscent of a castle, to explore the courtyard, which offers access to the monastery, church, museum, and souvenir shop. Guided tours of the abbey, in Polish, depart on the hour. For those interested, the museum (7zł) provides an overview of the abbey, as well as the opportunity to view several retrieved religious relics.
