St Barbara's Church, located on the quaint Plac Mariacki, is a 14th century building. The area was formerly a churchyard until the early 19th century, and the church acted as a cemetery chapel for the Polish faithful in the Middle Ages. The building's north side exterior is decorated with a skull and crossbones, and inside the entrance lies an open chapel with stone sculptures of Christ and three of the Apostles, from the Stoss school.
