Description

Sitting at the heart of the Main Market Square, this building was the epicenter of Kraków's medieval clothing market and dates back to the early 14th century. Composed of two rows of stalls, the building was extended and eventually became a 108m-long Gothic structure. After suffering damage in a 1555 fire, it was rebuilt in the Renaissance style with arcades added on in the late 19th century. Currently, the ground floor is abuzz with crafts and souvenirs for sale, while the upper floor holds the Gallery of 19th-Century Polish Painting.
