Description

Dating back to 1800, the large cemetery on ul Miodowa was the main burial ground for Kazimierz's Jewish population until WWII. During the German occupation, many of the grave markers were damaged or destroyed, with around 9000 still visible. Some of the recovered tombstones can be seen on the cemetery walls. Unfortunately, many of the graves remain untended as a result of families perishing in the Holocaust. To visit the cemetery, follow ul Miodowa underneath the railway bridge and look for the small gate located nearby.
