Description

The former pharmacy on the south side of Plac Bohaterów Getta stands as a testament to the heroic effort of its owner, Tadeusz Pankiewicz, who risked his life to help Jewish residents of the Podgórze ghetto during WWII. Pankiewicz, a Polish Gentile, was recognized by Israel for his bravery and awarded the prestigious title of 'Righteous Among the Nations'. The pharmacy's interior has been recreated to reflect its original wartime appearance, thus providing visitors with a glimpse into the daily life of the inhabitants of the ghetto and the role of the pharmacy in it.
