Description

For centuries, Wawel Cathedral has hosted many coronations, funerals, and burials of Poland's monarchs and nobles. The main structure is a Gothic-style cathedral, while several surrounding chapels have been built in different styles. The Sigismund Chapel (Kaplica Zygmuntowska), located on the southern wall of the cathedral, is renowned for its beauty and is recognisable from the outside by its gilded dome. Tours of the cathedral can be enhanced with an audio guide (8zł) that helps to explain the historical context of the site.
