Description

Just 14 km southeast of Kraków lies the Wieliczka (vyeh-leech-kah) salt mine, one of Poland's top attractions. With its 300 km of tunnels and chambers spread across nine levels - with the deepest being 327m below ground - tourists have been captivated since 1722. Guided tours of two hours provide visitors with the opportunity to explore a portion of the mine. While the standard 'tourist' route allows newcomers to discover the main attractions, those who have been before can opt for a more immersive 'miners' route.
